Doug Kulka is the sort of elite executive you want when you're looking to bring cutting-edge digital transformation to your business. Currently, he serves as the Chief Information Officer for Tyson Foods. Founded in 1935, the food giant produces approximately 20% of the beef, pork, and chicken in the U.S. With nearly three decades' worth of experience, Kulka has brought much to the Tyson table since joining the company in November 2017.
At Tyson, he first served as Vice President of the Global Functions Technology Group, where he was responsible for setting strategy and leading execution for technology innovation across worldwide operations. This includes previously driving digital transformation in numerous areas of the Fortune 100 company: finance/accounting, procurement, human resources, trade, sustainability, legal, sales, and digital marketing. Then in September 2019, Kulka was promoted to Vice President of IT Delivery as a Service. This was a group that was formed the same year as his company looked to leverage emerging technologies to accelerate growth and increase market capture. More recently, based on his numerous in-house successes at Tyson, Kulka was appointed CIO in January 2023. The move made him a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) with direct responsibility for a wide range of technology programs in partnership with Tyson's Chief Technology Officer.
Kulka, who graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in finance in 1992, boasts an impressive resume that includes leadership positions at some of the most recognizable companies in the world. Before Tyson, he served at Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company (HPE) for over a decade. There, he held roles including Senior Director of Global Functions Technology, Senior Director of Global Regulatory Compliance Shared Services, Director of Emerging Countries Technology and Strategic Planning, Director of Global Regulatory Compliance (SER/ERMS), and Senior Manager.
After starting his career at Sysco Foods, he was also in leadership positions at McDermott International and Enron.
In 2018, Kulka graduated from Deloitte's next-generation CIO Academy.
Today, in addition to his duties at Tyson, Kulka serves as a board member of McMullen Ventures. Passionate about opportunities in underserved communities, Kulka has also donated his time and energy as a volunteer at the Houston Food Bank.
