As Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO), Jim Andrew's corporate title may not be a household name, but the company he works for certainly is.

Since 2016, he's worked for PepsiCo, one of the most recognizable brands in the world. Named after its flagship product, Pepsi Cola, the company is the second-largest food and beverage business in the world based on net revenue, profit, and market capitalization. Prior to serving as CSO, Andrew ran PepsiCo’s Beyond the Bottle business unit, including the SodaStream and SodaStream Professional businesses. In August 2020, the company announced that he was being promoted.

As CSO, Andrew is responsible for his company's environmental impact. The position puts him in charge of PepsiCo's sustainability office, global sustainable plastics team, and global sustainable operations team. These responsibilities include accelerating the company's global sustainability agenda and integrating sustainability into its business strategy.

Under Andrew's leadership, the company has already made significant strides in the right direction. For example, it recently teamed with Unilever, Diageo, and Pulpex Limited to form a partner consortium in the development of a 100% plastic-free paper-based bottle. Furthermore, in September 2022, PepsiCo pledged to “spread regenerative farming” across 7 million acres by the end of the decade.

In addition to his CSO duties, Andrew leads strategy development and strategic planning across all business units and global sectors. He also oversees PepsiCo’s venture scouting activities – developing and nurturing both global and geography-specific venture strategies and initiatives.

A seasoned veteran, Andrew has more than 35 years of experience leading companies in the areas of corporate strategy and shareholder value creation. He started his career at Boston Consulting Group (BCG,) working his way up to the role of senior partner over a distinguished 25-year career. At BCG, he established and led the firm’s Innovation practice for almost a decade. He also served in executive leadership positions for Royal Philips and Sears Holding Corporation.

In the past, Andrew served as a charter member of the National Advisory Committee for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He is also the lead author of, "Payback: Reaping the Rewards of Innovation," which was selected as a "Top 10 Innovation Book" of the year by Bloomberg Businessweek. Andrew holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in accountancy from the University of Illinois.
