A member of the 1996 Olympic gold medal winning dream team, Grant Hill is one of the most accomplished basketball players of his generation. Following a legendary career at Duke University, Hill was the No. 3 overall pick in the 1994 NBA Draft. Despite being hampered by injuries, Hill played 19 seasons in the NBA, where he was an All-Star seven times, and made five All-NBA teams. Following his retirement, Hill made the successful transition from athlete to businessman —eventually becoming co-owner of the Atlanta Hawks.

Additionally, Hill has spent over a decade in broadcasting for CBS Sports, Turner Sports, and NBA TV. As generous as he is athletic, Hill's philanthropic gifts include millions to educational programs as well as social programs with meaning in his life. His charitable work also includes serving on various non-profit boards worldwide. In 2017, Hill was named that year’s recipient of the NCAA President’s Gerald R. Ford Award, recognizing his significant leadership as an advocate for college sports. The following year Hill was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

Arriving at Duke University in 1990, the high school All-American immediately became an integral part of the elite basketball team. A starter in 31 games, Hill earned Freshman All-American honors and developed a reputation for playing his best in pressure situations. During his four years of college ball, Hill helped lead Duke to one of the best four-year records since the John Wooden-led UCLA teams of the mid-1970's. The Blue Devils won consecutive NCAA titles during Hill's freshman and sophomore years and posted a program-best four-year mark of 118-23. As a senior, Hill received ACC Player of the Year honors while guiding Duke to its third NCAA Final Four appearance in four seasons. In 1994 he graduated from Duke with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history.

As a legend on the Duke campus, Hill's connection with his alma mater has never wavered since he left for the NBA. He currently serves as the Chairman of Duke University Basketball's Legacy Fund. In fact, he has given numerous gifts to his alma mater, including the Calvin Hill Scholarship at the Duke Divinity School. Then in 2016, Hill was inducted into the Duke Athletics Hall of Fame. "It means everything... you're in rarefied air with other names, in other sports, who have all come through [Duke], through the years," Hill reflected on the importance of the honor bestowed upon him by his alma mater. "I remember spending time in the Hall of Fame room as a student athlete."

Due to his successful college career, Hill became only the eighth player in Duke history to have his jersey number (33) retired.
