Awardees were selected for the breadth of their accomplishments in areas such as asset management, private equity, investment banking, venture capital, and other areas. They were nominated and evaluated based on sustained career performance and milestones achieved, demonstrated leadership, and reputational standing in the industry and broader business community, among other factors. Notably, many awardees also sit on the boards of charitable organizations and foundations, offering their skills for the betterment of their communities.

1. Peter Chung

A Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at global growth equity firm Summit Partners, Peter Chung leads Summit’s investments in a wide array of enterprises in the technology sector. Chung currently acts as a director of companies including A10 Networks, Empower RF Systems, MACOM, and Syndigo. Prior to joining Summit in 1994, Chung worked as an analyst in Goldman Sachs’ mergers and acquisitions division. In addition to being a multiple-time honoree of the Forbes Midas List of top investors, Chung serves as a director of the National Capital Venture Association and the Advisory Board of the Salvation Army’s Golden State Division. Chung received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Harvard University.

 

2. David Golub

Title: President

David Golub is the President of Golub Capital, a market-leading, award-winning direct lender and credit asset manager. The firm has over $35 billion of capital under management and offers tailored solutions for investors’ credit asset strategies. Golub was previously managing director of Centre Partners and Corporate Partners. He is a member of the board of the Loan Syndications and Trading Association, the Stanford Graduate School of Business Advisory Council, and the Founder’s Council of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, where he was the first board chairman and also a long-time director. Golub received his Bachelor of Arts degree in government from Harvard University.

 

3. Orlando Bravo

Title: Managing Partner

As Founder and Managing Partner of private equity firm Thoma Bravo, Orlando Bravo has pioneered a number of investment and acquisition strategies in the technology sector. Recognized in 2019 as the best-performing buyout investor by HEC Paris and Dow Jones, Bravo famously sold or listed dozens of established software companies for many times their cost. An avid humanitarian, Bravo’s creation of the Bravo Family Foundation and its Rising Entrepreneurs Program has brought millions to efforts for hurricane relief and entrepreneurship development. Bravo received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science from Brown University.

 

4. Frank Quattrone
Company: Qatalyst Group
Title: Founder & Executive Chairman

Frank Quattrone is the Founder and Executive Chairman of Qatalyst Group. He served as the company’s CEO from the firm’s founding until January 2016. Over his career, he and his teams have led and advised on more than 500 mergers and acquisitions with an aggregate transaction value of over $850 billion, and on more than 350 financings that raised over $65 billion for technology companies worldwide. Notably, he led the IPOs of Amazon.com, Cisco, Informatica, Intuit, Netscape, and many others. Quattrone began his career with Morgan Stanley in 1977. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

 

5. Bill Ford
Company: General Atlantic
Title: Chairman & Chief Executive Officer

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of General Atlantic, Bill Ford has steered the growth equity pioneer to expand its capital base and its international investments across multiple sectors. In his thirty years with General Atlantic, Ford has helped build companies such as Priceline and First Republic Bank. He currently holds board memberships with Royalty Pharma, BlackRock, and IHS Markit, as well as positions with community organizations including Rockefeller University, the Partnership for New York City, and the Council on Foreign Relations. He has long been a trustee of Amherst College and still serves on the investment committee for its endowment. Ford received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Amherst College.

 

6. Dipanjan Deb
Company: Francisco Partners
Title: Chief Executive Officer

Dipanjan Deb has worked with Francisco Partners since co-founding the San Francisco-based investment firm in 1999 and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer. Among Deb’s successful enterprises with Francisco Partners are his current positions on the boards of GoodRx, LegalZoom, and Quest. Before co-founding the firm, Deb was a principal at Texas Pacific Group and vice president at Robertson, Stephens & Company. He has held several advisory positions for the Stanford Graduate School of Business, including chairmanship of the Stanford GSB Management Board and the Stanford Board of Trustees. Deb received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of California, Berkeley.

 

7. Scott Richland
Company: The California Institute of Technology
Title: Chief Investment Officer

Scott Richland is the Chief Investment Officer at The California Institute of Technology (Caltech). He works closely with the Investment Committee of the Board of Trustees and the Institute’s Investment Office to manage Caltech’s security holdings and investment properties. Richland is an accomplished financial services and investment management executive with vast experience in leading business acquisitions and managing institutional and ultra-high-net-worth client portfolios. Prior to joining Caltech, Richland was president at both Lunada Bay Investors, LLC and Andell Holdings, LLC. He also served on the board of directors for the AIG Life and Retirement Companies for six years and as a board member for United Educators Insurance. Richland received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and government from the University of California, Los Angeles.

 

8. Will Griffith

Title: Founding Partner

Will Griffith is a Founding Partner at ICONIQ Growth, a direct investment firm with $9 billion in capital commitments and investments in over 70 high-growth technology companies. He is a founder of ICONIQ Strategic Partners, which is ICONIQ’s growth equity investing platform. This platform is focused on partnering with exceptional founders and leaders to effect global change. Griffith is passionate about partnering with product- and customer-first entrepreneurs and helping them to achieve their vision. Before he joined ICONIQ, Griffith worked at Technology Crossover Ventures as a general partner. Prior to that, he was at Morgan Stanley and The Beacon Group. Griffith received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history and engineering from Dartmouth College.

 

9. Josh Raffaelli
Company: Brookfield Asset Management
Title: Managing Partner

An expert in deal origination and structuring, Josh Raffaelli works as a Managing Partner at global alternative asset manager Brookfield Asset Management. As head of Brookfield’s global technology investment initiatives, Raffaelli currently serves on the boards of directors of Carbon Health, Latch, and leasing and asset management company VTS, and led Brookfield’s investment initiative with SolarCity. Before he joined Brookfield four years ago, Raffaelli worked with Silver Lake, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and J. P. Morgan, and has been a board observer for both SpaceX and Tesla. Raffaelli received his Bachelor of Arts degree in government from Harvard University.

 

10. George Needham

Title: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

George Needham is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at The Needham Group, Inc. In 1985, Needham co-founded Needham & Company, a leading investment banking firm that specializes in emerging growth companies. Before his current position, Needham was a managing director of The First Boston Corporation, where he established its Business Development and Technology Groups, as well as a portfolio manager in the Investment Advisory Division at Bankers Trust Company. He was also a first lieutenant in the United States Army and served as company commander of the 503rd Transportation Company in Heidelberg, West Germany. Needham received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Bucknell University.

 

11. Jessica Reed Saouaf

Title: Co-Chief Investment Officer, Managing Director

Having joined Hall Capital Partners LLC in 1999, Jessica Reed Saouaf now holds the positions of Co-Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director of the investment firm. As a member of Hall Capital’s management, executive, and investment review committees, Reed Saouaf has focused on investments in private equity buyout growth and distressed public and private investments. In addition to her duties with Hall Capital, Reed Saouaf is active on the boards of the Stanford Business School Trust, the San Francisco Foundation, and the American Civil Liberties Union of Northern California. Reed Saouaf received her Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and psychology from Wellesley College.

 

12. Henry Fernandez

Title: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Henry Fernandez is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of MSCI Inc. He has led the firm for more than two decades and helped it reach its current status as a premier provider of indexes and portfolio construction and risk management tools. For his excellence in leadership, Fernandez was named in Barron’s 2019 list of the World’s Best CEOs. Before his current position, he worked as a managing director at Morgan Stanley as well as president of private equity firm HispaniMedia, Inc. He serves on the boards of directors/trustees at Stanford University, the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, and the Hoover Institution. Fernandez received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Georgetown University.

 

13. Brian Hanson
Company: Lazard
Title: Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

Brian Hanson is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lazard Canada Investment Banking. He was named Chairman and CEO after Lazard Ltd acquired Verus Partners in September 2016. He has more than 25 years of Canadian and international advisory experience, including as a vice-chairman of CIBC World Markets and former co-head of UBS’s M&A group. Hanson has been responsible for founding and managing leading global financial advisory and investment companies, and he has advised on over $250 billion in transactions, including the largest announced transaction in history at that time. Hanson received his Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors in business administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.

 

14. Ezra Perlman
Company: Francisco Partners
Title: Co-President

Ezra Perlman is a Co-President at Francisco Partners and in his current role, he focuses on investments in the software and services sectors, specifically with an emphasis on healthcare technology. Francisco Partners features a team of over 50 investment professionals in San Francisco, London, and New York. The firm provides capital to technology companies that are facing strategic or operational inflection points. Before joining Francisco Partners, Perlman was with Battery Ventures as a venture capitalist. In that position, he was involved in identifying, executing, and managing private equity investments in software companies. He serves on the boards of directors of Avalon Healthcare, HealthcareSource, QGenda, and Kyruus, to name a few. Perlman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in applied mathematics from Harvard University.

 

15. Kristi Mitchem
Company: BMO Financial Group
Title: Chief Executive Officer, BMO Global Asset Management

Kristi Mitchem works in BMO Financial’s Global Asset Management group, serving as Chief Executive Officer and Head of that division. Under her leadership of a team of more than 1,200, BMO Global Asset Management is recognized as a global leader in ESG investment, corporate engagement, and international multi-asset investments. Before she joined BMO in 2019, Mitchem worked as CEO and head of global asset management at Wells Fargo and held executive positions with State Street Global Advisors, BlackRock, and Barclays Global Investors. A passionate advocate for diversity, she was also a driving force in bringing to market a gender diversity index exchange-traded fund in her time at State Street. Mitchem received her Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Davidson College.

 

16. Juan Payeras
Company: International Finance Corporation
Title: Chief Investment Officer

Juan Payeras has worked with the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC) for nearly three decades, currently occupying the post of Chief Investment Officer. In this position, Payeras works to finance renewable energy projects in the private sector throughout Latin America, contributing his expertise in risk mitigation and private capital mobilization to facilitate various infrastructure investments. Before becoming CIO, Payeras worked with the IFC as an investment officer for eighteen years, directing investments primarily in water, natural gas, and sanitation utility. Payeras received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance and multinational management from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.

 

17. Ned Gilhuly
Company: Sageview Capital
Title: Founding Partner

Ned Gilhuly is a Founding Partner at Sageview Capital and is responsible for all aspects of Sageview’s business. He currently sits on the firm’s Investment Committee and Portfolio Committee. Before joining Sageview, Gilhuly worked at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR), where he became a partner in 1994. He also served on KKR’s Investment Committee until he left the company in 2005. Before working at KKR, he was employed in mergers and acquisitions with Merrill Lynch Capital Markets. Gilhuly is a member of the Duke University Board of Trustees as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Duke Management Company. 18. Scott Stuart

Scott Stuart is a Founding Partner at Sageview Capital. In his position, he is responsible for all aspects of the company’s business and he also sits on the firm’s Investment Committee as well as the Portfolio Committee. Before he co-founded Sageview Capital, Stuart was employed at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. (KKR), where he became a partner in 1994. While there, he was responsible for the utilities and consumer products industry groups. His previous experience also includes working at Lehman Brothers Kuhn Loeb, Inc. in the mergers and acquisitions group. 19. Eric Liu

Title: Partner and Global Co-Head of Healthcare

Eric Liu is a Partner and Global Co-Head of Healthcare at EQT. As a global, purpose-driven investment organization, EQT has more than €75 billion in raised capital. Achieving sustainable growth is one of the main things EQT focuses on with portfolio companies, along with market leadership and operational excellence. Before joining EQT, Liu was a principal at Warburg Pincus, an analyst at Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and an analyst for the private equity segment of The Blackstone Group. He is currently a board member at Aldevron, Waystar, and Certara. Liu received his Bachelor of Arts degree in applied mathematics from Harvard University.

 

20. Vadim Zlotnikov
Company: Fidelity Investments
Title: President

Vadim Zlotnikov is the President of Fidelity Institutional Asset Management at Fidelity Investments. He has worked in financial services for almost 30 years, mostly with institutional clients solving complex investment and organizational problems. Zlotnikov has served as an analyst, strategist, PM, and business leader, and in his current role, he oversees the firm’s institutional asset management organization. Before Fidelity, he was with AllianceBernstein for ten years, where he was chief market strategist and co-head of multi-asset solutions. Zlotnikov received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

 

21. Tammy Kiely

Title: Partner, Co-Head of Technology Investment Banking

Tammy Kiely has been contributing her 25 years of expertise in technology, finance, and strategic transactions to Goldman Sachs since 1999, most recently as Partner and Co-Head of Technology Investment Banking. In this capacity as well as her previous roles of managing director and head of global semiconductor investment banking, Kiely was a champion for Goldman Sachs’ $500 million ‘Launch With GS’ program. Previously, Kiely worked in the finance department of PDI/DreamWorks and was a supervising senior accountant at San Francisco tax advisory firm KPMG. Kiely received her Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and accounting from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.

 

22. Steve Ellis
Company: TPG Capital
Title: Managing Partner

Steve Ellis is a Managing Partner at TPG Capital. TPG currently has over $70 billion in assets under management and focuses on leveraged buyouts and growth capital. Ellis joined TPG in 2015 and is the Co-Managing Partner of The Rise Fund. Before joining the company, he was the CEO of Asurion as well as a global managing partner for Bain & Company. Ellis serves on the boards of the Bridgespan Group, DreamBox Learning, EverFi, and Charles Schwab. 23. Bryan Taylor

Title: Managing Partner, Head of Technology Investment Team

Joining global private equity investment giant Advent International in 2019, Bryan Taylor leads Advent’s technology investment division as Managing Partner. In addition to deepening Advent’s investments in tech startup enterprises, Taylor sits on the boards of TSG Software and Definitive Healthcare. Before he joined Advent, Taylor led the tech group of TPG Global, investing billions in varied disruptive companies in the tech sector, and prior to that he co-founded private equity firm Symphony Technology Group and worked with Bain & Company as a strategy consultant. Taylor received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Stanford University.

 

24. Carter McClelland

Title: Chairman

Carter McClelland is the Chairman of Union Square Advisors, a leading technology-focused investment bank. Before his work with the firm, he served as president of Bank of America New York Market and chairman of Bank of America Securities. He was also president and chief executive officer and member of the board of directors of Deutsche Bank North America. McClelland’s career spans more than 40 years, including 21 years at Morgan Stanley as the chief administrative officer. He is currently the Board Co-Chair of Echoing Green, a non-profit that aims to find, fund, connect, and support a new generation of social impact leaders. McClelland received his Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical engineering from Stanford University.

 

25. Nino Marakovic
Company: Sapphire Ventures
Title: Chief Executive Officer and Partner

Partner and Chief Executive Officer of Sapphire Ventures since 2006, Nino Marakovic brings two decades of experience with technology-focused venture capitalism to the firm’s track record of ambitious investments in this sector. As Sapphire’s CEO, Marakovic has presided over major investments in MuleSoft, Box, and LinkedIn, and sits on the boards of several companies, including ActivTrak, Integral Ad Science, and Monday.com. In his time with the company, he has participated in investments in more than 100 private companies and venture capital funds. Marakovic was previously a partner at IVF Ventures, an executive vice president and partner at MVC Capital, and a senior associate at Robertson Stephens. Marakovic received his Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and psychology from Williams College.

 

26. Ravi Mhatre

Title: Founder, Managing Director

Ravi Mhatre has worked at the intersection of finance and technology for two decades, founding Lightspeed Venture Partners in 1999 and currently working as the firm’s Managing Director and Partner. Mhatre has launched a wide array of successful startup ventures with Lightspeed, including Clever, Rubrik, ThoughtSpot, and Nutanix, and serves on the boards of directors of these enterprises among others. Previous to his achievements in the world of finance, Mhatre contributed his talents to the worlds of management consultancy and biotech. Mhatre received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in economics and electrical engineering respectively from Stanford University.

 

27. Richard Van Horne
Company: Glencoe Asset Management, LLC
Title: Chief Executive Officer

Richard Van Horne is the Chief Executive Officer of Glencoe Asset Management, LLC. Prior to joining Glencoe, Van Horne was the regional manager of Princeton in Asia, a global institution that has worked to foster deeper Asian-American relations through diplomacy and service. Before this position, he had a 30-year career in international banking, including positions with Diversified Hedge Investment Advisors, LLC and Croesus Capital Management. Van Horne received his Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Princeton University.

 

28. Dave Welling

Title: Chief Executive Officer

Dave Welling has served as Chief Executive Officer at Denver-based Mercer Advisors since 2017, bringing more than 25 years of experience in the world of wealth management to Mercer’s mission of offering ambitious fiduciary services to its clients. Among his specialties as an executive in the world of finance are executing corporate strategy and delivering consistent, technology-facilitated client service. Welling has also worked as general manager at SS&C Advent and Black Diamond Performance Reporting and held three vice president positions at Charles Schwab during his twelve-year tenure. Welling received his Bachelor of Science degree in economics from Middlebury College.

 

29. Patricia Kemp

Title: Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Patricia Kemp is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Oak HC/FT and focuses on growth equity and early-stage venture opportunities in fintech. She currently serves on the boards of Duedil, FastPay, Feedzai, Insureon, Kasisto, NextCapital, and Urjanet. Kemp is also a board observer at Poynt and is actively involved with CLARA Analytics, Kryon, Ocrolus, and Pagaya. Before joining Oak HC/FC, Kemp served as a venture partner at Oak Investment Partners and spent 13 years at Cendant. She also previously held positions at Hewlett Packard and Merrill Lynch. An award-winning leader in finance, she has been named to Institutional Investor’s FinTech Finance 40 list and PaymentSource’s Most Influential Women in Payments list. Kemp received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University.

 

30. Jason Bender
Company: First Republic Bank
Title: EVP, Chief Operating Officer

The current Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of First Republic Bank, Jason Bender has worked with First Republic in various capacities for more than two decades. After having served as the bank’s senior vice president of finance and chief administrative officer, Bender now is responsible for First Republic’s strategic planning, secondary loan marketing, and overall operations and technology. A specialist in banking as well as risk management and financial analysis, Bender worked as assistant vice president of Silicon Valley Bank before joining First Republic in 1999. Bender received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Swarthmore College.

 

31. David Blumberg
Company: Blumberg Capital
Title: Founder and Managing Partner

David Blumberg is the Founder and Managing Partner at Blumberg Capital. An authority on early-stage investing, he founded Blumberg Capital in the early 1990s and launched its first venture-backed fund in 2001. Before founding Blumberg Capital, he managed international investments with the Bronfman Family Office, Adler & Co., APAX Partners, and T. Rowe Price. He also launched business development for Check Point Software Technologies as one of its top four executives. Blumberg currently serves on the boards of AngleHealth, Credorax, and DoubleVerify. 32. David Golob

For nearly twenty years, David Golob has led the field in software and service-sector investments as Partner and Chief Investment Officer with Francisco Partners. In addition to serving on the boards of companies including Betterment, BeyondTrust, Quest Software, Redis Labs, and SmartBear, Golob has helped build Francisco Partners into one of the most active private investment firms in the information technology world. His roots in technology investing extend back to the beginning of his career, having worked at Tiger Management, General Atlantic Partners, and Sutter Hill Ventures before joining Francisco. Golob received his Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Harvard University.

 

33. Edwin Jager
Company: The D. E. Shaw Group
Title: Managing Director and Head of Fundamental Equities

As Managing Director and Global Head of Fundamental Equities for global technology development and global investment firm The D. E. Shaw Group, Edwin Jager has spearheaded investment initiatives in a variety of infrastructure and metals companies. In addition to his other duties in his position, Jager was a rotating member of the D. E. Shaw Risk Committee. Before joining the firm in 2011, Jager worked as the head of technology equities for Perry Capital, and for Morgan Stanley as a senior analyst in technology corporate finance and M&A. 34. Seth Boro

Leader of infrastructure cybersecurity software, Seth Boro is currently a Managing Partner of powerhouse private equity firm Thoma Bravo. Working to grow portfolio companies as a member of Thoma Bravo’s board, Boro has been recognized on the San Francisco Business Times’ 40 Under 40 list and was named a rising star of finance by Mergers & Acquisitions Magazine. Boro previously held positions in the finance industry working for Summit Partners, Credit Suisse, and First Marathon Securities, developing a reputation for bold private equity investments in technology and business services. Boro received his Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance from Queen’s University.

 

35. David Benson

Title: President

David Benson is President of Fannie Mae. He is responsible for leading the development and execution of the strategic plan as well as driving innovation and organizational performance. Benson leads the Single-Family and Multifamily businesses, including aspects such as customer engagement, capital markets, and pricing, among others. He serves on the board of managers of Common Securitization Solutions, which is a Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac joint venture. Previously, Benson was a managing director in the fixed-income division of Merrill Lynch, where he held various leadership positions. Benson received his Bachelor of Science degree in psychobiology from the University of California, Los Angeles.

 

36. Matt Spetzler

Title: Co-Head Europe and Partner

Matt Spetzler is a Partner at Francisco Partners and Co-Head of the firm’s European division, contributing his technology sector financial experience in Francisco’s more than $14 billion in capital investments.
